Hyperwall 2 – The World’s Highest Resolution Scientific Visualization System – Gizmo Watch

Hyperwall 2 – The World’s Highest Resolution Scientific Visualization System – Gizmo Watch: “NASA has developed the world’s highest resolution scientific visualization and data exploration system. Christened the Hyperwall-2, it measures 23 x 10 feet and uses 128 screens, which are driven by 128 graphic processing units. There are a total of 1,024 processor cores capable of displaying quarter billion-pixel graphics. This mind-boggling system can handle 475 terabytes of data and is used to analyze such images, which are difficult for the human eye to perceive. Hyperwall-2 has a processing power which is hundred times more than the original Hyperwall developed in 2002. Hyperwall-2 will be integrated with specialized software and is expected to help NASA in studying the safety of new space exploration vehicle designs, atmospheric re-entry analysis for the space shuttle, earthquakes, climate change, global weather and black hole collisions, and also detect problems with supercomputers used by NASA.”
